I took up photography in my early years during my career in the US Navy. Myvery first 35mm camera was a Minolta that I purchased through the Navy Exchange in Yokosuka, Japan. I was interested in finding a way to document my travels throughout the world during my 23 years in the Navy and photography was my means of accomplishing this. During the course of all these years I have developed my skills with the camera through trial and error. However, the advent of the Digital SLR and photography software haveenabled me to be more focused on the development of my “composition” skills in photography. I particularly enjoy outdoor photography these days and also donate my time, talent, and camera to selective event photography.Harstad Fine Arts Series is one of my favorite events. With my Tamron 18mm-400mm Telephoto Lens and Nikon D5600 Camera, I am able to capture close-up photos that normally would not be possible at these indoor events. I especially enjoy capturing young children’s facial expressions while they are enjoying the wonderful music that HFAS has brought to Faith Lutheran Church these past several years. My skills with the camera have been enriched by attending classes offered by the Central Kentucky Computer Society of Lexington Kentucky and various other resources.
